Located between the Great Kei River and the Hogsback Mountains, Coverside Guest Farm, near Cathcart in the Eastern Cape, offers a unique experience to all who visit. Stillness is what you will find in the veld; most people come here to relax, braai, read a good book, look at the stars and then go for a walk. Coverside offers majestic views up and down the valleys and across the plains as far as the eye can see…spoil your senses!

Situated in what is known as the ‘Coverside Valley’ leading toward the upper course of the mighty Kei River, this farm offers much in its biodiversity; an abundance of birdlife, wildlife and flora can be viewed in all their different stages throughout the year. Presently impala, eland, kudu, gemsbok, rhebuck (mountain reedbuck), Burchell’s zebra, waterbuck, blesbuck, black wildebeest, warthog, bush pig, antbear, duiker, baboon, caracal, black-backed jackal and vervet monkeys, to name but a few, can all be seen on the over 1500 Ha of grazing and browsing.

Coverside Guest Farm is a working cattle farm too, home to a herd of over 250 beef cows, and growing! So for those wishing to get a taste of beef farming, feel free to roam the range and savour the outdoor working lifestyle. Coverside Guest Farm’s homely experience will no doubt appeal to the walker, birdwatcher, game viewer, mountain biker and avid reader

CATHCART is a small town at the foot of the Windvogelberg Mountains on the N6 just north of Stutterheim. The town is alive with well maintained examples of nineteenth century architecture. Cathcart is popular for gliding from its hill slopes, where thermal air currents allow limitless soaring. The area boasts a number of beautiful wild flowers, some of them found nowhere else in the world and on a clear day, residents say you can see the Drakensberg Mountains
