Ceres: seven Rhodene Farm Cottages

Rhodene is a working fruit farm and offers 8 luxury self-catering accommodation options which overlooks the fertile Ceres valley and is situated at the foot of the majestic Skurweberg mountain range. The farm is 9km from Ceres and easily accessible as it is only 500m off a tarred road. There are breath-taking views from Rhodene of the entire valley and you are guaranteed to go home rejuvenated and relaxed. You may wish to relax at your cottage, walk or cycle in the mountain & on the farm or fish in our dam

The self-catering cottages were originally staff houses on the farm that have been renovated. There are 7 cottages i.e. three on Rhodene and four on VoŽlvlei. All are fully furnished. Each cottage is fitted with built-in cupboards and counters, a TV, select DSTV bouquet channels, a fridge, stove, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery and all utensils. Each cottage & the farm house have under-floor heating and /or a fireplace for our cold winters and fans for the summer (the farm house has air conditioning and roof fans). Each unit has an outside stoep and braai facilities. Bedding, towels and weekly cleaning is also included.

Configuration of the cottages:

PEACOCKíS PERCH -- Can sleep a maximum of six persons and has two bedrooms. The main bedroom has one double bed. The second room has two sets of bunk-beds (four single beds). There is one bathroom with a shower, small bath, basin and toilet. The living room is open planned combining the lounge and dining table. The kitchen is separate.
GUINEA FOWL COTTAGE -- Has one bedroom (double bed), a separate bathroom with bath, shower, & basin. There is a separate toilet & basin. The kitchen & lounge are open-planned and has a pull-out couch in the lounge for two persons (preferably children). Guinea Fowl can sleep a maximum of two adults and two children.
HERON HOUSE -- Is very similar to Guinea Fowl cottage, the only difference being that it doesnít have a bath. It is also wheelchair accessible with a spacious roll-in shower. It can sleep a maximum of three persons.
THE FOUR VOňLVLEI COTTAGES -- Are semi-detached, each with one bedroom (two single beds) and a pull-out couch in the lounge (except one unit). The bathroom has a bath with a shower inside, toilet and basin. The living area is also open planned with the lounge and kitchen. Each unit has shaded parking. These units can sleep a maximum of two to three persons each.
FISH EAGLE AND KINGFISHER COTTAGES -- Are both spacious and have been recently renovated. Each cottage has two bedrooms: 1 double bed and 2 single beds. It has two bathrooms: one (en-suite to main bedroom) with bath, shower, toilet and basin and a separate bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. The living area is open-planned with spacious lounge and kitchen. Each unit has shaded parking. These units can sleep a maximum of four persons each.

Farm Details
Farm Name/s:Rhodene & VoŽlvlei - 150 ha
Farming Activities: Rhodene is a decideous fruit farm consisting mainly of various varieties of pears, apples, nectarines and peaches. The farm practices integrated fruit production (IFP) using integrated pest management (IPM) and biological controls where possible. The fruit picking season streches from the beginning of December to the beginning of April
Farm History: The farm has been in the family since 1951. It was originally laid out by Captain Dean in the 1920's and he named the farm after his daughter Rhoda. Captain Dean was a founder member of Ceres Fruit Growers Packhouse and fruit was exported from the farm under Heron Brand in those days.
