AMSTERDAM: The quiet little town of Amsterdam is situated in close proximity to the border between Swaziland and South Africa. Amsterdam was initially founded in 1866 by the Scotsman Alexander McCorkindale. The settlement was originally known as Roburnia and was set to become the centre for the surrounding area known as New Scotland. These plans never materialized and Roburnia was re-named Amsterdam in 1882 after the capital of Holland.
