Oribi Mountain lodge is situated in Mpumalanga Province - South Africa's land of the rising sun.

The Oribi Mountain Lodge can be found just off the N4 National Road from Johannesburg to Nelspruit (Via Schoemanskloof) and features fully equipped and furnished cabins. Come witness the vast beauty of the Schoemanskloof valley with breathtaking skyscape canvasses painted by the sun every dusk and dawn.

Our value for money self-catering accommodation will spoil you while you explore the amazing surrounds Mpumalange has to offer, such as Nelspruit, Mozambique, Kaapse Hoop, Kruger National Park, Sabie, Pilgrims Rest, Sudwala Caves and the various historical, bush and outdoor activities available in Mpumalanga.

Bask in the calm of the quiet surroundings whilst in awe of the immense rolling mountains or take an exploratory stroll through the forests in and around Oribi Mountain Lodge; relax next to the fireplace with a book or a game of darts and a drink in the cozy lapa. Come and experience our diverse range of local birds, while you hike or try your luck at some fishing (bass and trout, catch and release), or explore the area on mountain bike, quad bike, or have some fun on our 4x4 track (for the adventurous.)

Fishing Fly fishing Adventure – Oribi’s farm dam is fed from the fountain in the Mountain valley. Fish available is trout, bass and blue curper (catch and release).Enjoy the peacefulness and quietness of the Mountain surrounding you, while the sun sets over the Schoemanskloof. Please note that Oribi does not supply any fishing equipment.

Game Viewing Take a game drive through the lodge – organized game drives available

Bird Watching Come and experience our diverse range of local birds. The Schoemanskloof Valley boast a diverse range of interesting birds. Some of the specials include African Finfoot, Narina Trogon, Blue-mantled Flycatcher, Gorgeous Bush-shrike, Orange-breasted Bush-shrike, Giant Kingfisher, Long-crested Eagle, Half-collared Kingfisher, Tambourine Dove, Purple-crested and Knysna Turaco.

Hiking Trails Take a walk through the lodge grounds for some tree-spotting

Oribi's 4x4 trial offers an opportunity to the outdoor test his driving skills, as well as the capabilities of his 4x4.This is a trial with a rating of 2 - 3, you will definitely need a low range function, the trial offers sufficient ground clearance, obstacles includes, sharp descent and ascent hills, mud, rock, axle twisters and beautiful scenery.

It is advisable to challenge this track with 2 or more vehicles keeping safe distances at all times. Recovery points such as rocks and trees are all that nature offers you. The trial is approximately 2.5 km long. The trial will be a great experience for beginners. No quads allowed.

Dez’s Farm House – sleeps 5

A three bedroom self catering wooden cottage. Fully equipped with bedding, microwaves, pots, pans crockery, cutlery and stove. Towels are provided. This cottage has 5 singles beds, 1 bathroom with a bath and an outside bathroom, with a shower. Open plan lounge and dining room has a built in fireplace for those chilly evenings. No TV. Private braai facility. Firewood provided each evening for guests to light their own fires and enjoy the resident owls. First batch of firewood included. Extra wood available.

Mountain Cottage sleeps 4 (space for baby cot)

This cottage has two rooms, 1 double bed, and 2 single bunker beds and floor heating in both rooms, ideal for a family of 4. Kitchenette fitted with fridge, microwave, tea &coffee making facilities and hotplate (limited crockery). Chalet overlooks the garden with glorious mountain views. Private braai area, first batch of firewood included.

Value Timber Cottages

We have 6 wooden cottages, ideal for backpackers, or people on a budget, the Value Rooms are twin bedded and share communal ablutions. Bedding and towels are provided. No Kitchen facilities, but coffee and tea making facilities included.

The value rooms have full use of the communal, fully equipped lapa’s kitchen, dining room and living/social area, including fridges, freezers and microwave. Rooms are serviced daily. By prior arrangement, staff will make a fire at the boma area and guests are welcome to sit outdoors, use braai facilities and enjoy the country air.
