Wycombvale Game Ranch is a beautiful ranch on 1330 hectares along the popular Sunshine Route via Alexandria, Boesmansriviermond (bushman river mouth), Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred in the Eastern Cape and less than one hour’s drive from Port Elizabeth.

Wildlife include more than 18 game species, amongst others Kudu, Bushbuck, Njala, Red hartebeest, Bluewildebeest, Blesbuck, Duiker, Impala, Zebra and Reindeer. The ranch covers mountains with gorges and valleys with beautiful indigenous forest areas as well as open plains and grasslands.

Accommodation comprises five double rooms of which three have own entrances. Two of the rooms are in a thatched chalet in the green and shady garden of the main farmstead and lodge area. The rooms are spacious, have a real Africa feel and are all ensuite. There is also a private self-catering family unit in the garden that sleeps four persons. The views are breathtaking and especially at night one cannot help to indulge into serious star gazing in real “open sky” country. Birding is excellent and varied and serious hikers can enjoy themselves to the full. Mountain bikes are available at additional cost. Activities:

Game Viewing Wycombevale offers game drives in an open vehicle. Wildlife include more than 18 game species, amongst others Kudu, Bushbuck, Njala, Red hartebeest, Blue wildebeest, Blesbuck, Duiker, Impala, Zebra and Reindeer

Bird Watching Birding is excellent and varied

Hiking Trails Serious and casual hikers can enjoy themselves to the full on trails of various lengths. Bikers follow the meandering game drive dirt roads in picturesque surrounds. Mountain bikes are available at additional cost. Picnic baskets are available for hiking and mountain biking.

Other Activities ADDO ELEPHANT PARK is only 50 km from Wycombevale Game Ranch and is home to one of the densest African elephant populations on earth. The park conserves no less than five of South Africa's seven biomes. Addo incorporates the largest coastal dune field in the southern hemisphere and boasts the Big Seven, (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo, leopard, southern right whale and great white shark). It also protects the world's largest Cape gannet breeding population on Bird Island. SHAMWARI GAME RESERVE is 35 km from Wycombevale Game Ranch and covers 20 000 hectares (49000 acres) and has received numerous international awards, including the World's Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve for five consecutive years. It is situated in verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth (45 minutes drive outside the city) and Grahamstown

Tourist attractions in the area.
The R72 is known as the Sunshine Route and starts some 50 kms from Port Elizabeth, just after the Sundays River and the Coega River (a major new port initiative and industrial zone) at the major N2 and R72 intersection. It passes through the towns of Alexandria, Boesmansriviersmond, Kenton-on-Sea, Port Alfred, and numerous small hamlets until it reaches East London. The road is a scenic splendour and passes over many interesting rivers and along wild flower decorated roadsides, high white dunes and landlocked estuaries.
