Farm Details
Farm Name/s:Wisp-Will and Florida - 4000 ha
Farming Activities: SIMBRA – Wisp-Will started in 1984 by breeding Brahman bulls to top Simmentaler cows. Most of the animals are a 5/8 Simmentaler, 3/8 Brahman combination. We keep bringing in "new blood" with a 50-50 Simmentaler/Brahman combination. Fertility is the number one selection criteria. SIMMENTALER -- Between 1967 - 1994 over 70 animals were imported from Germany & Austria. With Fleckvieh as base South African type Simmentalers have been bred. Fertility is again the number one selection criteria by far. Ultrasound scanning is done in both breeds to measure carcass characteristics and Genestar testing for marbling & tenderness is done on stud sires.
